Ruth completed her undergraduate training at Guelph University and went on to do her postgraduate training in podiatry at the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences, in Toronto. After graduation she completed several advanced training courses, including injection techniques for botox, the use of sclerosing agents for varicosities, lower extremity compression therapy for venous insufficiency, as well as several advanced surgical courses including HyProCure and the KobyGard system. In 1999, Ruth along with her colleague, Jonathan Haslehurst, established their first clinic in downtown, historic Burlington.


Simon Bartold is a graduate of Adelaide University where he gained a Bachelor Degree in Science with majors in Physiology and Zoology. His further qualification in Podiatry was gained at the University of South Australia. Simon holds postgraduate fellowships in Sports Podiatry with the Australian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and in Sport Sciences with Sports Medicine Australia. He has won the prestigious Best Clinical Paper Award for original research at the Australasian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport an unprecedented three times. He is the creator of the education portal and conducts seminars around the world on injury prevention, biomechanics and sports injuries.


Throughout his career, Ivan has held a passion for dermatology. He has promoted podiatric dermatology worldwide working with podiatrists, dermatologists and general practitioners on various education programmes and in researching new technologies and treatments. In addition, he has authored books, published over 100 papers and runs a successful blog. He holds visiting appointments at Universities in the UK and Australia and continues to lecture around the world as well as regularly working in a busy clinic in Hampshire, UK.


Dr. Christopher Bromley was born and raised in Goshen and Newburgh, New York. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. He received is Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Bromley was awarded at graduation the Henry Haber Award for Clinical Excellence. He completed a two year residency program in Podiatric Surgery at Maryland General and Johns Hopkins teaching Hospitals In Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Bromley is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is currently the Chief of Podiatric Surgery at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Dr Bromley is also on staff at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. 


Louis J. DeCaro. DPM is a Podiatric Physician who specializes in pediatrics with a special interest in sports medicine and biomechanics for both adults and pediatrics. Dr. DeCaro is President and fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics (ACFAP). Dr. DeCaro is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry. He also shares a patent on foot types.

He is in private practice in West Hatfield, Massachussets and a member of the surgical & medical staff at Franklin Medical Center as well as Holyoke Medical Center. In 2017 Podiatry Management Magazine named Dr. DeCaro one of the most influential podiatrists in the country. In 2018 was granted the prestigious honor of becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow.

Tina has been a practice manager for 22 years. She lectures nationally on Practical Practice Management, specializing in Complete Practice Efficiencies, Team Building, Staffing Issues, Manager Training and Practice Building Protocols. Tina has written over 400 articles on practice management and has developed, GPS – Global Practice Systems, to create the road map to get your practice from where it is now to where you want it to be, in small practical, achievable steps. She is the Director/Coach and Consultant for Top Practices Virtual Practice Management Institute and manages her husband, John Hollander, DPM practice in Santa Rosa Ca.


Andre Durie is a former professional Canadian football running back/slotback who played for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League from 2007 to 2016. He signed with the Argonauts on May 10, 2007 as a free agent after he went undrafted in the 2007 CFL Draft. In 2012, Durie won his first Grey Cup, defeating the Calgary Stampeders, scoring a touchdown in the 35-22 win.

Aileen Gunda is a medical device reprocessing expert, consultant, educator, and speaker, who is certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Aileen has 18 years of experience in the field of reprocessing medical devices and, since 2017, has been the principal for Medical device reprocessing consulting services and a presenter at the Faculty of Dentistry Continuing Education on the Canadian standards and best practices in reprocessing of medical devices.

Her drive for staff and patient safety with a precision-focus, Aileen has been providing expert advice to healthcare professionals in hospitals and clinical settings that have resulted in educating staff in the proper handling of medical devices, achieving compliance and streamlining efficiencies. Aileen has gained a reputation for creating safe-working environments within standards, utilizing resources effectively, and facilitating audits with a keen eye for detail


Chiropodist Peter Guy has proudly practiced podiatric medicine in Whitby since 1997 and Peterborough since 2001. He has over 35 years of experience in patient care and teaching. During the academic year, Peter supervises chiropody interns in their clinical rotations in the Chiropody Clinic at the Michener Institute of Education at University Health Network in Toronto.


Dr. Hanley-Dafoe is a multi-award-winning psychology and education instructor who specializes in resiliency, navigating stress and change, and personal wellness in the workplace. Described as transformational, engaging, and thought-provoking, Hanley-Dafoe’s keynotes provide practical strategies, grounded in global research and case studies, that help foster resiliency within ourselves and others. As the senior educational developer for the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Trent University, Hanley-Dafoe focuses on providing professional development for the teaching community and cultivating student engagement. She is committed to finding innovative solutions for creating positive learning relationships and environments for both students and teachers. Hanley-Dafoe has also been a psychology instructor and researcher at Trent for more than 13 years. Hanley-Dafoe’s work is inspired by her interest in resiliency and wellness including the intersections of stress, optimal challenge, navigating change, goal-setting, and personal alignment.


Jonathan completed his undergraduate training at McMaster University and went on to do his postgraduate training in podiatry at the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences, in Toronto. After graduation he completed several advanced training courses in diabetic wound care, diabetic assessment techniques, lower extremity compression therapy for venous insufficiency, and several  advanced surgical courses including HyProCure and the KobyGard system. In 1999, Jonathan along with his colleague, Ruth Avelino, established their first clinic in downtown, historic Burlington.


Dr. Kevin Kirby grew up in Sacramento, went to C.K. McClatchy High School, did his undergraduate degree at UC Davis, and went to podiatric medical school at the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) in San Francisco. He did his podiatric surgical residency at the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital and then completed a year of Biomechanics Fellowship training at CCPM where he also received his MS degree. Dr. Kirby has been in podiatry practice in Sacramento since 1985.

In addition to over 32 years of podiatric practice in Sacramento, Dr. Kirby has distinguished himself as one of the leading podiatric authorities in the world in foot and lower extremity biomechanics, foot orthotic therapy and the sports podiatry.


Dr. Ornstein is Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons Group, LLC and President and Chief Executive Officer of Podiatric Super Group Management, LLC. In addition, he is Consulting Editor for Podiatry Management Magazine and Faculty Coordinator of the four-year practice management course at the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM), and served as Immediate Past Chairman of American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management (AAPPM). Dr. Ornstein has been in private practice for over twenty-five years and currently serves as Medical Director of Affiliated Foot and Ankle Center, LLP with an office in Howell, New Jersey where he currently resides


Dr. Paicos is a native of Massachusetts, a second-generation Podiatrist (his father retired at the age of 90). He was a graduate of the charter class of Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 1986. His residency training was completed at West Roxbury VAMC, followed by a clinical Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Following his postgraduate training, he founded Affiliates in Foot Care, PC and was the President and CEO from 1990 until May of 2015. During his clinical practice he achieved Board certification from both the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (1992) and the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (1995). His passion for limb preservation focused his career with hospital-based relationship including Associate Medical Director for Winchester Hospital's Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center, a relationship he enjoyed for close to fifteen years. He served as Service Chief of Foot Surgery at Winchester Hospital 2008-2015. 


Dr Howard Penn currently practices podiatric medicine and surgery in Buffalo, New York for the past 32 years. He is board certified in foot surgery by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Shockwave therapy has been a very effective treatment modality in his practice for the past 20 years for a variety of musculoskeletal ailments. Dr. Penn has been using the Electro Medical Swiss Dolorclast system for the past 13 years and received his training in Germany with orthopaedic surgeons for all musculoskeletal indications. He has been a frequent lecturer both nationally and internationally over the past several years sharing his expertise in shockwave therapy as well as training physicians in workshops.


Patrick Rainville graduated as Chiropodists from the Michener Institute in 1997.  He established a Chiropody practice in Timmins with his wife, Tina.   The Rainville's employ a staff of 15, which include support staff, Nurses, a Pedorthist, and Chiropodists.  He is a registered member of The College of Chiropodists of Ontario, a member of the CFPM and the OSC. He currently sits on the Michener Institute's Chiropody PAC committee. He is a College of Chiropodist practice assessor and a clinical site for 3rd-year Chiropody students. Patrick has a particular interest in indigenous foot health and is actively engaged to help his colleagues succeed in their practice.


David Simard specializes in the assessment and treatment of foot diseases and conditions. As a dedicated chiropodist, he offers both medical and surgical care for individuals who are suffering from ankle, foot, and other lower leg problems. He deals with different illnesses, treats injuries, and performs surgery that involve the lower extremities of the body. He also provides treatment for these ailments, such as prescribing the right shoe inserts in order to improve the mobility of a patient.

Vicki werkman

Vicki is the clinical director at Werkman, Boven & Associates. She started in the dental community in 1984 as a certified dental assistant, moving into the role of surgical assistant for Oral Surgery. Since then she has performed several different roles in the medical community-trainer for patient management software (Tracker), managing her husband’s chiropody practice, and surgical assistant with the Medical Mission International. Vicki was a past CFPM board member for the assistant program, chairing the development of today’s CFPM assistant’s program.
